Information I collect

I may collect personal information when you contact me, make an enquiry, request a quotation or commission work from me.

This may include:

  • your name;

  • email address and telephone number;

  • your address or the location of a proposed project;

  • information you provide about your garden, project or commission;

  • photographs, plans or other information you choose to send;

  • correspondence relating to your enquiry or project;

  • information needed to provide a quotation, carry out commissioned work, invoice you or maintain appropriate business records; and

  • technical information about your visit to this website, where collected through cookies or similar technologies.

How I use your information

I may use your personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and discuss potential projects;

  • provide advice, quotations and proposals;

  • plan, manage and carry out commissioned work;

  • communicate with you about your project;

  • arrange site visits, delivery or installation;

  • process payments and maintain financial and business records;

  • deal with questions or issues after a project has been completed;

  • operate, protect and improve this website; and

  • meet legal, tax and regulatory requirements.

I will only use your personal information where I have a lawful basis for doing so.

Depending on the circumstances, this will normally be because the information is needed to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to fulfil a contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or because I have a legitimate business interest in responding to customers and running and protecting the business.

Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.

Contact forms

When you submit an enquiry through this website, the information you enter into the contact form is used to respond to your enquiry and, where appropriate, discuss a potential project or commission with you.

The website is hosted by Squarespace, so information submitted through the website may be processed by Squarespace on my behalf in order to provide its website and form services.

I will not add you to a marketing mailing list simply because you have made an enquiry.

Photography of completed work

I sometimes photograph completed sculptures, fireplaces, water features and other stonework to showcase my work on this website, social media, printed materials, at exhibitions or events, and in other publicity relating to my work.

Where photography takes place at a customer's home, I will be considerate of their privacy. I will not intentionally publish a customer's name or address, or identifiable photographs of people, without appropriate permission.

Where I rely on consent to use photographs, giving permission is entirely optional and will not affect the commission or service provided. Consent can be withdrawn by contacting me using the details above, although it may not always be possible to retrieve material that has already been printed, distributed or otherwise placed beyond my control.

Cookies and website analytics

This website is hosted by Squarespace and uses cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your device when you visit a website.

Necessary cookies

Squarespace uses certain necessary cookies and similar technologies to operate and securely serve this website. These are required for the website to work correctly and do not require your consent.

Analytics and performance cookies

With your permission, Squarespace may also use analytics and performance cookies to help me understand how visitors use the website.

The information collected may include information about your browser, network and device, your IP address, the pages you visit, the website or page you visited before arriving here, and information about how you interact with this website.

This information helps provide general website analytics, such as visitor numbers, traffic sources and activity on the site, so that I can understand how the website is being used and improve it.

Non-essential analytics and performance cookies are restricted until you make a choice through the cookie banner.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies, manage your preferences and change your choices afterwards using the cookie controls available on the website.

Squarespace may use cookies or similar technologies to remember your cookie preferences.

Third-party services

Squarespace provides the hosting and website analytics services used by this website and may process information about website visitors on my behalf.

Other trusted service providers may also process personal information where reasonably necessary to operate the business or fulfil a commission. These may include professional advisers, accounting or payment providers, suppliers, contractors and delivery services.

I do not sell your personal information.

If additional third-party services are added to the website in future, such as Google Analytics, embedded video, maps or other tracking technologies, this notice and the website's cookie controls will be reviewed and updated where necessary.

International transfers

Some organisations that provide services to the business may process or store personal information outside the UK.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, I will rely on appropriate safeguards or another lawful mechanism for the transfer where required by UK data protection law.

How long I keep your information

I keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet any legal, accounting or tax requirements.

How long information is retained will therefore depend on what it relates to. Information concerning completed commissions and financial transactions may need to be retained for longer to meet legal and record-keeping obligations.

Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted or disposed of.

Marketing

I will not add you to a marketing mailing list simply because you contact me or make an enquiry.

If I introduce email marketing in the future, marketing communications will only be sent where there is an appropriate lawful basis for doing so, and you will be given a straightforward way to unsubscribe.

This does not prevent me from contacting you where necessary in connection with an enquiry, quotation, commission or previous work.

Keeping your information secure

I take reasonable steps to protect the personal information I hold against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

Where third-party services are used to store or process information, I take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate safeguards.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you a number of rights in relation to your personal information. These may include the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you;

  • ask me to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

  • ask me to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;

  • ask me to restrict how your information is used in certain circumstances;

  • object to certain uses of your personal information;

  • receive certain personal information in a portable format; and

  • withdraw your consent at any time where I rely on consent.

Not all of these rights apply in every situation.

If you would like to exercise any of your rights, please contact me using the details at the beginning of this notice.

You also have the right to object to processing of your personal information where I rely on legitimate interests, and you have the right to object at any time to the use of your personal information for direct marketing.

Complaints

If you have any concerns about how I use your personal information, please contact me first so that I have an opportunity to address them.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent data protection regulator.

Further information about your data protection rights and how to make a complaint is available from the Information Commissioner's Office.

I may update this Privacy & Cookie Notice from time to time to reflect changes to the website, my services or the way personal information is used.

The latest version will be published on this website with the date it was last updated.
